I created this image to represent the current struggle our country is facing. There are those who believe that we need to build walls and keep people out of a country that was originally designed as a new start for so many. The whole in the barb wire represents how we are slowly coming together as citizens to break down these barriers government officials are trying to build to allow more people to come into America. Springsteen talks about how the Guerrilla Girls did not originally understand the impact their stance would take on the art community, as well as others who wanted to stand up to social constructs. I agree with Springsteen as to the power images can have on problems we see in our day to day lives that we wish we could change. Especially in today's world a simple photo can be shared over and over to spread awareness which can lead to conversations, and hopefully, change.
