In the youtube videos I noticed that many of the essays used multiple modes in order to tell their story. Most did depend heavily on visual and sound, however, the experience of watching while listening to it like a movie was personally more enjoyable then reading. This semester we talk a lot about knowing your audience when creating a multimodal project and I think this did a great job of that. Video essays relate well to students today because we enjoy watching content more often then reading it. I think this is a great way to be remembered when your audience is students trying to learn.
I noticed in the videos they all took on the video essays very differently. Some felt more like a slide show with the voice in the background explaining the videos on the screen while others were a lot more elaborate. I think by adding videos, effects, and more content that relates to what you are talking about it is a lot more enjoyable to watch the video.
