9/10 Progress Writing

When looking at Shipka's stance on sound in this week's reading I noticed that they were very open to the idea of not setting limits on what mediums you use to display your argument. Sometimes the best way to grab an audience's attention is to step out of the usual form of writing in order to track attention. I think this is something that Shipka and Springsteen both had in common was not being afraid to use mediums that were unexpected. The Gorilla girls would post loud build-boards and put on museums that showcased art that was kept from the top galleries. Their argument was loud so writing simple letters to the galleries asking for change would not have had the impact that they did by being bold with their mediums. This is also reflected in Shipka's article because her students would use mediums that are unconventional but delivered the argument in the best light possible. The roles of visual and sound are not something frequently talked about when it comes to writing however both of these authors explore their importance and value.
